How I look after your personal information
This page sets out the privacy policy Website Design Victor Harbor follows. It is a one person web design business run by Nick in Victor Harbor, South Australia. It explains in plain English what information I collect, why I collect it and how I keep it safe.
Only what I need to answer you and do the work
When you fill in the enquiry form on this website, I collect the details you choose to give me. That is usually your name, email address, phone number, business name and a message about what you need.
If you become a client I may also hold details such as your business address, ABN, billing contact and the logins needed to work on your website, hosting, domain, Google Business Profile or Google Ads account.
I do not ask for sensitive information and I do not need it to do my job.
How visits to this site are measured
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device you use and your approximate location. It does not tell me who you are.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work if you do. Google also offers a browser add on that stops Google Analytics collecting data about your visits.
The map on the contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. Google’s use of that information is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
To reply, quote, deliver the work and send invoices
I use your personal information only for the reasons you would expect.
Your details stay with me
I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. I do not pass it to other businesses for their marketing.
I only share information when it is needed to do the work you have asked for. For example your details may be stored by my email provider, accounting software or the hosting company that runs your website. I may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Kept in secure accounts and only for as long as needed
Your information is stored in password protected accounts with reputable providers. Some of these providers may store data on servers outside Australia. I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
I keep business records for as long as the law requires. Enquiries that do not go any further are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Just ask and I will sort it out
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you or ask me to correct or delete it. I will respond within a reasonable time and there is no charge for a reasonable request.
I handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles as a general guide. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. If it is still not resolved you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
